Taitung City Souvenirs

In summer, the incredible Taitung Hot Air Balloon Festival takes place up there, too (see “Taitung Events” section at the end). There’s a lot to know about Chishang, so I suggest you visit my Chishang guide. In Taitung City, Gaya Hotel (see on Booking / Agoda) beside Taitung Railway Village has an infinity pool. 鐵花村伴手禮 If you need to crash for a night, there are several decent hotels by Taitung Station. Highway 30 in Hualien county is a good one to take because it is fast, but Highway 23 in Taitung is a very slow and winding drive past aboriginal communities. Taitung has long been home to the Amis, Puyuma, and Bunun tribes. Lambanog is distilled in Quezon province and can be bought from local culture/souvenir shops like Kultura in SM stores. Taiwan has a distinct tea culture; no doubt tea lovers will love Taipei. Even if there are some coffee shops here and there, Taiwan is more of a tea-drinking country after all. In New Taipei City, you’ll find the rural district of Pinglin — known for tea plantations, tea shops, and the Pinglin Tea Museum (that’s right, a museum dedicated to Taiwanese tea!). A trip to Pinglin Old Street affords you a tea masterclass with any of its longtime tea shop owners. It’s also the quietest ‘Old Street’ in Taipei, so take it as a chance to escape the crowds. Some would describe it as very warm with a gentle breeze. The average temperature in Taitung City in December for a typical day ranges from a high of 72°F (22°C) to a low of 65°F (18°C). It is advised to book trains to Tainan and Taipei in advance, as there are not so many per day, and they can fill up quickly, especially during weekends. Taiwan is an island country with no shortage of fresh seafood. But be sure to eat Taitung’s local delicacies, such as Kuroshio Current sailfish and flying fish. Aboriginals have their own ways of cooking these rare fishes, too. Many restaurants in Taitung serve QQ rice noodles, typically served with ground pork sauce and bonito fish flakes. Tables and chairs are placed on the street and vendors offer the most unique and delicious local dishes. Taitung Night Market in Zhengqi Road is the place to be if you want to dine in the most exciting way. Visit the many stalls for a chance to taste pan-fried buns, crispy pockets, tofu flowers, tangyuan, and the giant takoyaki. The takoyaki consists of fish ball, shrimp, broccoli, mushroom, and chopped octopus. If you’re not yet hungry, you can play pinball or try out the balloon shooting games. The market is open on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, only. Both are experiences I highly recommend trying in Taipei. Upon arrival, check into a well-equipped hotel where we will round off today’s Taiwan 8 days tour. Mido Hotel is further away from the city centre but just beside the Siwei Night Market that is open on Sunday nights. It takes 3 hours and 30 minutes from Kaohsiung to Taitung on this bus. Bus No. 1778A is the same route but passes through the Caopu Tunnel. This added route has two daily buses each way and provides a quicker and more comfortable option for visitors traveling between Kaohsiung and Taitung. One of the top Taitung food is traditional, aboriginal, food. Unless you have local resources , I highly recommend joining these tours on the East Coast for efficiency’s sake. If the name rings a bell, you’re thinking of Yehliu – one of northern Taiwan’s most famous geological wonders and a popular day trip from Taipei. Tiehua Music Village is a large outdoor music performance venue; at night, you can catch various artists performing around the park. For the rest of the coast, you’ll pass some simple local restaurants and convenience stores on the highway. There are very few restaurants or shops in Luye, but there’s at least a 7-Eleven. For aboriginal cuisine, Bunun Leisure Farm has activity packages that include an aboriginal set meal. With two nights, base yourself in one of the towns I recommend for two nights and explore the region by scooter or bicycle. Or choose a different town for each night – Yuli , Chishang, Guanshan, and Luye all have gorgeous rural scenery, but each has its own vibe. It has water station beside it and transient houses available for a very affordable price. You should also check out the Taitung Night Market on on Zhengqi Road. During the day, it’s a fruit market, then it turns into a night market serving mostly snacks on the evenings, from Thursday to Saturday. SourceOld buildings from the railway company were turned into an art space where artists can exhibit their art and get a space to work. The exhibitions change regularly and a walking track has been built outside. During summer, the place hosts a craft market and regular events, especially concerts. “Water sports can nurture growth and sustainability in a region. It doesn’t cause much harm to the environment and can generate steady economic growth.” said Chair Stanley Yen of The Alliance Cultural Foundation. Each administrative division maintains its own postal code for mail delivery purposes. Having the correct code is essential to your mails delivery. Locate the correct postal codes for Taitung in the list above by choosing the destination city or town you are sending to. The average temperature in Taitung City in September for a typical day ranges from a high of 82°F (28°C) to a low of 76°F (25°C). It takes about 3~4 hours to row all the section of 22km of the river, but the emotions during this journey will leave visitors with unforgettable memories. Unfortunately, though, as of mid-2023, the station is closed and under renovations. So make sure to read the most recent reviews and find out if it has reopened yet before you make the trip out there. Following Highway 9 south along the coast from Taitung City, there’s an insanely long stretch of sand at Taimali (太麻里). Although it’s clearly visible from the highway, it’s surprisingly difficult to get down to it.
